Guidelines

As a film collective, we encourage our members to follow these guidelines in their creative filmmaking process. This is not a “dogma” but a set of common values we share.

  • Political and Social Commitment: Films should address urgent themes of queerness and politics, with a clear stance against war, fascism, and human rights violations. Freedom of speech should be upheld beyond the legal limitations of our countries of production.
  • Mutual Support: Members should support each other’s work within the collective and should pay reasonable and non-hierarchical wages according to the production budget.
  • Financing:  Production value and budget should serve artistic vision rather than commercial appeal.
  • Collective Distribution/representation: Cinema of Disobedience is looking to create ways of collective distribution to enhance the visibility and presentation of our films. Therefore we ask all interested filmmakers who want to be part of the New Queer Radicals and the Cinema of Disobedience to share with us their ideas how this could be achieved. you can contact us via our contact form on our website. Send your suggestions, recommend other films you think belong to the Cinema of Disobedience and share ideas on how we could support each other going forward.
  • Website: To amplify our shared vision, the Cinema of Disobedience website will feature each participating filmmaker with a portrait, a short bio, and details about one of their films. As our collective grows, so will this archive — a living, evolving constellation of voices. Together, we can explore creative ways to use this platform for mutual visibility and shared benefit.
